Serena McMahon, class of 2018, is a digital producer for NPR and WBUR's "Here and Now."
She recently wrote about a COVID-19 "long hauler," someone who has lingering health problems from the virus and who created a support group. She also makes infographics on Instagram.
"What a moment to be a journalist! I have an enormous responsibility to provide fair and truthful journalism on all platforms – radio, digital and social media. UMass Journalism prepared me to debunk misinformation, use social media as a community engagement tool and always consider the people you serve first and foremost. While the job can be exhausting at times, knowing I can make a difference makes the work fulfilling."
