Carol Connare

Food Writing



Carol Connare has written for publications such as Preservation, Yoga Journal, The Old Farmer’s Almanac, and The Boston Globe. She is the author of New England Camping (Avalon) and editor of several cookbooks, including A Taste of Portsmouth (Idea Outfitters, 1998) and We’ve Got Food Covered (UMass Amherst 2010.) As an editor and writer for Yankee Magazine, she also produced videos, radio shows and podcasts. At UMass Amherst, she was editor of the university magazine 2002-2009. She began her career as a columnist for The New England Folk Almanac and was “The Traveling Outdoorswoman” for Thompson Publications. Carol is director of communication and development for UMass Amherst Libraries, the largest state-supported library system in New England.
