Building a Responsible Approach to Technology

The goal of this certificate is to give students a background in PIT through the opportunity to develop their knowledge in (1) key public interest areas such as ethics, equity, privacy, and others; (2) social governance mechanisms that can be applied to control technological directions; and (3) a deeper knowledge in a specific information technology area of particular interest to the student.

This certificate is one key educational initiative of the broader PIT@UMass Initiative, an all-campus research, education and community-building program involving faculty and students from each major college and school.
