The UMass Amherst Information Technology (IT) Program has released IT Minor course schedule for the 2026 University+ (U+) Winter Session, offering students a valuable opportunity to earn credits, get ahead, or stay on track for graduation during the winter break. Registration for the high-demand sessions is set to begin on October 8th.

The U+ Winter Session is designed to be flexible, with classes primarily offered online and in a part-time format. The session runs from late December through late January, with online classes for the 2026 term scheduled to begin on Friday, December 19.

Courses offered through the IT Minor are interdisciplinary and will fulfill requirements across the program's four categories:

  • Foundation: Providing a comprehensive basis for IT.
  • Technical: Focusing on in-depth study of programming, software, or data management.
  • Broadened Inquiry: Examining IT in a wider context such as public policy or cultural impact.
  • Elective: Allowing students to apply IT knowledge and skills to a specific field of study.

The curriculum is highly customizable, ensuring students across all majors—from the arts and business to the sciences—can gain the technical expertise and critical understanding necessary to thrive in a technology-driven world.

Students are encouraged to consult the UMass University+ portal and the IT Minor's official course catalog for the complete list of 2026 offerings and to ensure timely enrollment. The final date for students to add or drop a course with a 100% refund is Wednesday, December 24.
