The UMass IT Program is excited to share an upcoming guest lecture presented by the Commonwealth Honors College that sits at the cutting edge of data science and environmental engineering. On Monday, March 9, 2026, the UMass community will welcome Dr. Auroop R. Ganguly to the Student Union Ballroom to present the Daffodil Lecture: AI and Entrepreneurship in Climate and Sustainability.
Dr. Ganguly, a Professor at Northeastern University and Director of the Sustainability and Data Sciences Laboratory (SDS Lab), is a leading voice in how we use complex computational tools to solve global crises. Dr. Ganguly’s research integrates:
- Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning: Developing predictive models for climate extremes.
- Big Data & Spatiotemporal Statistics: Analyzing massive datasets to understand infrastructure vulnerabilities.
