Virtual Private Networking (VPN) software creates an encrypted connection between your off-campus computer and the campus network. Members of the university community can use VPN software to connect securely to the campus network from off-campus (e.g., to access some campus servers).
Most faculty and staff have access to the the UMass VPN group and can begin connecting to the VPN automatically. If you have materials that may only be accessed by select individuals, please contact the IT Help Center to discuss creating a Restricted VPN Group.
