CAPS, the Class Automated Proposal System, is the online class scheduling system built in SPIRE by IT in collaboration with the University Registrar’s office and academic departments. This system completely replaces the cumbersome paper process that the academic departments used previously to coordinate scheduling needs with the Course and Classroom Management (CCM) group.

CAPS is a one-stop SPIRE interface where department Scheduling Representatives can manage all of their communications with the CCM group.  CAPS automatically keeps records of all requests, updates, questions, answers, and comments.  In CAPS, Scheduling Representatives can:

  • request changes to their department's schedule of classes, including updating details for a class, and adding or cancelling class sections offered in a given term
  • view the status of CCM's processing of those requested changes in real time  
  • review the complete history of all communication and scheduling activity related to a class section
  • request new courses or request new sections of existing courses if they have been offered in the past few years.

Scheduling Representatives who have completed training have access to CAPS.  Please contact SPIRE User Support for information about upcoming CAPS training sessions.
