iClicker REEF works with your mobile device (iOS or Android), or can be accessed through a web browser, allowing you to participate during in-class polling sessions. To be able to participate with iClicker REEF, you need an active subscription. A subscription access code can be purchased as a bundle with an iClicker model 2 through the eCampus online store (instructors will provide the link to the store in SPIRE). This page explains how to create a new iClicker REEF account and how to redeem your access code.

Create an iClicker REEF Account

Creating an iClicker REEF account is free. Please check with your instructor to ensure that they are allowing REEF to be used in their classes before trying to use the app instead of your iClicker 2 remote.

  1. Download the mobile app via the Apple App Store or Google Play or go to to use the app in a web browser. Once installed, open the app then click Sign Up! The Create Account screen will open.

Check that you agree to the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use, and then click Next.
  4. Create a password and click Create Account.
    • If you have an iClicker 2 remote, you should still register your remote ID through Moodle. For instructions, refer to Register Your iClicker Remote in Moodle.
    • After registering, your account has a 14 day free trial of iClicker REEF. If you purchased your iClicker 2 remote for a UMass Amherst course after August 2017, it comes bundled with a 5-year subscription for iClicker REEF which can be redeemed using the enclosed access code. For instructions, refer to Redeem Your REEF Access Code (below).

Redeem Your REEF Access Code

When a REEF account is first created, you have a free 14-day trial. Students who purchase an iClicker model 2 through the eCampus online store (instructors will provide the link to the store in SPIRE) will receive a 5-year subscription to the REEF polling app which can be redeemed using the enclosed access code. You do not need to wait for the trial period to expire, but make sure to redeem your access code before purchasing any further REEF subscriptions.

Access codes can only be redeemed via the web app, not the mobile app:

  1. In a web browser (not with the REEF mobile app), go to
