About the Ambassadorship

This August, UMass Amherst Information Technology (UMass IT) launched its new IT Student Ambassadors program with a cohort of ten students representing schools and colleges from across campus. The IT Student Ambassador Program will increase direct engagement with students to increase proactive support and improve technology assistance for students living and learning at UMass Amherst. The program also introduces students to UMass IT’s internship program, serving as a career ladder to students from all areas of the University’s academic programs.

IT Student Ambassadors engage with their peers through campus events and social media to promote IT resources, information, and initiatives to undergraduate and graduate students. Ambassadors also evaluate select IT services, such as SPIRE and Canvas, meeting with IT staff teams across multiple services to gain insight into development processes and provide direct feedback to improve the student experience.

Meet the Fall 2024 Ambassadors

Renuka Abbidi

Hi, I’m Renuka, a graduate student at the Isenberg School of Management, where I’m pursuing a degree in Business Analytics. I have a passion for travel and love exploring new places. In my free time, I enjoy outdoor activities, which help me stay connected with nature and recharge my energy. I’m proud to be part of the UMass community, where the vibrant campus life and academic opportunities continually inspire me to grow and excel.

Caroline Gerety

Hi, I’m Caroline! I’m a junior Biomedical Engineering major, planning to graduate in May of 2026, and I really enjoy running! I’ve recently ran the half marathon in Wells Maine and plan to run the Boston Marathon in the near future, I’m also in Chi Omega and I love UMass because of all the wonderful opportunities it gives each individual along their own unique career path!

Maitri Gohil is a graduate student, currently pursuing a Masters of Science in Computer Science.

Urvi Gupta

Hi! I'm Urvi and I'm a freshman majoring in Computer Science. Besides obsessing over codes and robots, I love reading and writing. Saloni Khatu

My name is Saloni Khatu, and I am currently pursuing my Master's in Computer Science at UMass Amherst. I have a keen interest in machine learning and data science. In my free time, I enjoy working on real-time data analysis projects and exploring new advancements in technology.

Tiye Ngachoko

Hi, I'm Tiye, a junior majoring in Informatics with a minor in Sociology. I enjoy reading, watching TV, and listening to music in my free time. On campus, I'm involved in several roles. In addition to being an IT ambassador, I am a UMass Dining ambassador, a CICS career developer, and part of the Manning Undergraduate Student Impact Committee, among other things. I strive to leverage my education and experiences to create positive change in every space I inhabit :)

James Nguyen

I'm James, a junior Computer Engineering major. I am working as EdTech IT Assistant at the College of Education for Summer and Fall of 2024 and it is great being able to connect and work with Central IT. I enjoy working out and am a coffee addict.

Shiven Patel

Shiven Patel is a rising junior studying Computer Science. Passionate about technology and its potential to drive positive change, Shiven is leading campus organizations like CICSoft and HackUMass. In his free time, he enjoys working on personal coding projects, exploring the latest advancements in AI and robotics, and collaborating with peers on innovative ideas. Shiven is excited to join the IT Ambassadorship program and contribute to enhancing the technology experience for the UMass community.

I'm Rohit, a first-year graduate student majoring in Business Analytics. Fond of gadgets from reviewing to experimenting, I enjoy dedicating my time to staying updated on the latest advancements in the technology industry.
