IT to Implement Security Controls on Remote Access Connections from Internet - Tues., April 4

On Tuesday, April 4, 2023, UMass Amherst Information Technology (IT) will be implementing additional security controls on remote access software used to log into UMass endpoints and servers remotely from the internet to reduce risk to university computers and data.

In the coming weeks and months we will be blocking remote access connections (e.g. Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), Secure Shell (SSH), etc.) inbound from the Internet. Remote access connections outbound will not be affected at this time.

On Wednesday, April 5th, 2023, from 7 to 9 a.m., UMass Amherst Information Technology (IT) will perform network reconfiguration in Machmer and Munson Halls.

On Wednesday, March 22nd, 2023, from 7 to 9 a.m., UMass Amherst Information Technology (IT) will perform network reconfiguration in Arnold, Furculo Hall, and 358 North Pleasant Street.

Repointing MX Records from UMass.edu Email Domain - Fri., 3/10

On Friday, March 10th, 2023, UMass Amherst Information Technology (IT) will re-point the MX records from the umass.edu email domain from our on-premises mail servers to Office 365. The re-pointing project has allowed for the correct setup of SPF and DKIM records on all of these domains.

Planned Network Maintenance: Wired Network Connectivity on Campus – Thurs., 3/16

March 8, 2023

On Thursday, March 16, 2023, from 7-8 a.m., UMass Amherst Information Technology (IT) will perform planned network maintenance. Wired network connectivity will be interrupted during the maintenance window.

The interruption to wired network connectivity should be quick but devices may need to be restarted once maintenance is complete. Wireless network connectivity will not be impacted.
