Security Alert! "University Retirement" and "Life Benefit Enrollment" Scam Targets UMass Amherst Community

A new fraudulent phishing message titled "University of Massachusetts Amherst Retirement Education" began targeting UMass Amherst email users. The email appears to be sent by "," and claims to be in regard to "Life Benefit Enrollment Meetings."

Planned Maintenance: Azure Virtual Desktop Unavailable – Mon., 6/6

Azure Virtual Desktop, UMass Amherst's desktop and app virtualization service, which enables students and faculty to remotely access high-performance and specialized software on their own devices, will be unavailable between 1:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Monday, June 6, 2022 for planned maintenance.

RESOLVED: Unplanned Service Interruption: Access to Blackboard, Other Services - Tue., 5/24

The login issue was identified and resolved. Access to Blackboard and other services using Shibboleth authentication has been restored.

On Tuesday, May 24, 2022 evening, members of the campus community are reporting issues accessing the Blackboard learning management system, and other services that use Shibboleth authentication. UMass Amherst Information Technology (IT) teams are investigating.
