This fall, UMass Amherst Information Technology (IT) is making two important changes designed to optimize the resilience and performance of VPN connectivity.
Software Update Available Weds., 10/20
Starting Wednesday, October 20, 2021, a new version of the GlobalProtect virtual private network (VPN) software is available. This update ensures that your VPN connection benefits from the latest features and security updates available and it is important that you install it promptly.
- When logging into VPN, you may see a notification about a software update.
- Click Yes to install the update in the next week. If you do not update the software before Wednesday, October 27, the update will be installed automatically.
VPN Login Experience Update Coming Soon
With an update rolling out to the campus community soon, the way you log in to VPN is changing: the two-step login process will be better integrated into the way you access VPN. Stay tuned for updated dates and information.
- When logging in to VPN, you will be prompted for two-step login on a subsequent screen.
- Log in with your NetID and password, then complete the Duo two-step login process.

If you see a message that says Sorry, but we're having trouble logging you in, simply wait a few minutes and try logging in again.
