As of Thursday, August 19, Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) is now Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD). This service allows UMass Amherst students, faculty, and staff to access available software remotely from any device.
WVD will be temporarily unavailable after 5 p.m. tonight (Wednesday, 8/18) while changes are applied.
- Existing WVD users do not need to request access to use AVD. New users: request access.
- This change does not impact the list of software available through AVD.
- UMass Amherst Information Technology still recommends that you access AVD through a remote desktop client (RDP) app.
- If you need to access AVD through your web browser, it is available at https://rdweb.wvd.microsoft.com/arm/webclient/index.html
