The login experience for some UMass Amherst services will soon change to a Microsoft-provided process.
Starting Wednesday, August 18, 2021:
- Members of the campus community will be prompted for their email@example.com and password on two successive screens when using Moodle and Blackboard learning management systems, Zoom videoconferencing, HR Direct human resources system, and DocuSign electronic signatures, and other services.
- The same login experience is already in use for Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Adobe Creative Cloud, and other services.
- This date may need to be adjusted depending on testing outcomes.
Changes to the login process for IT and administrative services are part of a larger strategic effort to optimize the user experience and enhance the security of the campus IT infrastructure. Planning for this multi-phase project started in 2020 and will continue in the next academic year.
Benefits of this upgrade include a simplified, consistent login experience across services and significant protections against the latest information security threats. Members of the campus community will have a predictable and recognizable way to log in to widely used campus services.
