Box Retirement Timeline Extended By Two Weeks to Fri., 7/16

The Box retirement timeline has been extended by two weeks. This will enable Microsoft to resolve additional issues with the sharing features in the OneDrive web app reported by some members of our campus community.

We are taking this step out of an abundance of caution to ensure that you and your colleagues can fully access your Box content in OneDrive once the transition is finalized. The new anticipated date for retiring Box is Friday, July 16, 2021. Updated transition timeline

UPDATE: University Websites to Undergo Emergency Maintenance

6:00 p.m.

As a security precaution, our technical teams plan to perform emergency maintenance to the UMass Amherst web hosting environment. The exact maintenance window will be announced as soon as it becomes available. This is a necessary step following the availability issues reported earlier this morning as it will significantly reduce the potential exposure of some university websites to known information security threats.

Box Retirement: Steps You Can & Cannot Take During the Review Period

The review period, a significant milestone in the transition from Box to OneDrive, began June 1 this week.

Do not move or edit any files in the BoxData folder until after June 13.​

SPIRE, the university's student records system, will be unavailable from 5 p.m. on Friday, May 28 to noon on Saturday, May 29, while UMass Amherst Information Technology (IT) performs planned maintenance.
