UMass Amherst Information Technology (IT) is investigating reports of issues impacting multiple services, including SPIRE and Virtual Private Network (VPN). Thank you for your patience as we work to quickly resolve this unplanned service interruption. 

Planned Maintenance: SPIRE Unavailable - Sat., 9/25, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.

SPIRE, the university's student records system, will be unavailable from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 25, while UMass Amherst Information Technology (IT) performs planned maintenance. If you are experiencing issues with SPIRE outside of the maintenance window, please contact IT User Services at 413-545-TECH (8324) or it@umass.edu.

Two-Step Login Required for VPN Access Starting Thurs., 9/9

In response to information security threats detected in the past week, two-step login (a.k.a. multi-factor authentication) will be required to access the university’s virtual private network (VPN) service starting, Thursday, September 9, 2021. VPN is available to UMass Amherst faculty, staff, researchers, and some students.
