Check Your Junk Email for Miscategorized Items

October 30, 2020

As the campus transitioned to remote work, teaching, and learning, members of the university community rely more on email for important, time-sensitive announcements and other information.

UMass Amherst Information Technology (IT) is receiving reports that legitimate messages are sometimes miscategorized as junk. This is likely due to the increased volume of emails sent on a daily basis. We recommend that you:

  • Check your Junk Email folder regularly.
  • Mark important or miscategorized items as not junk. This will alert spam filtering to sort those conversations and senders properly in the future.
  • Add the Junk Email folder to your favorites to more easily see when new messages have been categorized as junk.
