Security Alert! New Phishing Scam Targets UMass Amherst Community - Mon., 10/12

On October 12, 2020 a new fraudulent phishing message began targeting UMass Amherst email users.
The email appears to have been sent by "Margaret Aresnault," and tells the recipient "I’m in a meeting right now and that's why i'm contacting you through here."

Caution: This email is not a legitimate communication from the University of Massachusetts. It is a phishing scam designed to trick you into providing your NetID password to get access to your personal information and/or UMass Amherst information technology services for fraudulent purposes.

RESOLVED: Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) Now Available - Sun., 10/11

On Sunday, October 11, 2020, between approximately 2:45 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., members of the campus community may not have been able to access a limited number of software available through our Windows Virtual Desktop service, including Adobe Creative Cloud applications.

Service has now been restored. Thank you for your patience. If you continue to experience issues accessing this service, please contact IT User Services at it@umass.edu or 413-545-9400.

Security Alert! New Phishing Scam Targets UMass Amherst Community - Thursday, October 8

On October 8, 2020 a new fraudulent phishing message began targeting UMass Amherst email users.

The email appears to have been sent by “Eric Dickson,” and instructs the recipient to “forward me your personal phone number so as to help complete a minor task”.

Caution: This email is not a legitimate communication from the University of Massachusetts. It is a phishing scam designed to trick you into providing your NetID password to get access to your personal information and/or UMass Amherst information technology services for fraudulent purposes.

RESOLVED: Login & Access Issues with Office 365 Email, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive & Other Microsoft Online Services

Microsoft reports that these issues have been resolved as of 6:30 p.m. EST (10:30 p.m. UTC) today, Wednesday, October 7. 

Starting at approximately 2:10 p.m. EST (6:10 p.m. UTC) on Wednesday, October 7, Microsoft users worldwide, including our students, faculty, and staff, may not be able to access Microsoft online services, such as Office 365 email, calendaring, Microsoft Teams, or OneDrive.
