The Hannah Frilot Memorial Scholarship committee is proud to name this year’s 2020 scholarship recipient!
After receiving a number of qualified and amazing applications, the committee has selected Cynthia Camacho ('21, Mathematics, True Math) as this year’s recipient, providing to her a $1,000 scholarship.
Cynthia has an extensive history of community service, having helped and tutored students in need in western Massachusetts and beyond.
Her accolades include helping direct an after-school program that focused on computer programming, exercise, writing, and math for students from low-income households in Holyoke, MA.
She’s also worked with the Holyoke Community College (HCC) STEM Starter Academy as an Outreach Liaison and Tutor, and also takes part in UMass Amherst’s Each One Reach One Mentoring Program as a mentee, helping the organization’s mission of mentoring undergraduate students of color looking to apply to graduate school.
The committee also thanks the many students who submitted applications for this year’s award. We invite them to apply again during the next application window, which will be announced in the months ahead.
