Campus Email Lists To Be Upgraded to Google Groups - February 2021

UMass Amherst email lists (a.k.a. listservs) will be upgraded from Mailman, a legacy platform, to Google Groups this February.

On Wednesday, February 17, 2021, faculty, staff, and campus organizations can request new email lists in SPIRE. New lists will be created in Google Groups (and no longer in Mailman). Learn how to request a new email list

Between Tuesday, February 23, and Friday, February 26, 2021, current email lists will be upgraded from Mailman to Google Groups.

Security Alert! New Phishing Scam Targets UMass Amherst Community - Weds., 2/3

On February 3, 2021, a new fraudulent phishing message with the subject “You have a Faculty E-Learning message” began targeting UMass Amherst email users.

The email notifies the recipient “You have a Faculty E-Learning message notification file from your Department” and contains a link to “SIGN IN HERE.” The links in the message direct the recipient to a fraudulent version of a UMass Amherst login page.

Planned Maintenance: Campus Wireless Networks – Fri., 1/29 & Sat., 1/30

In preparation for the start of the spring semester, campus wireless networks (UMASS, eduroam, UMASS-DEVICES) will be intermittently unavailable between 6:00 and 7:00 a.m. on Friday, January 29 and Saturday, January 30, 2021 while UMass Amherst technical teams perform emergency maintenance.

Members of the campus community are encouraged to contact IT User Services (413-545-TECH or if they experience wireless issues outside these maintenance windows.
