Students to Use Two-Step Login for Email, Moodle, Other Campus Services - Mon., 1/3

Starting Monday, January 3, 2022, undergraduate and graduate students will use two-step login (a.k.a. multi-factor authentication or verification) to access email, Zoom, Moodle, Blackboard, and other IT and campus services. This two-step login solution is powered by Microsoft.

With two-step login, you verify your identity with your password, then you complete the login by using an app on your mobile device or a code sent to your phone via text / voice call. This process makes your account more secure and protects your personal information from fraudulent access.

Echo360 Lecture Capture Issues Reported - Tues., 12/7

On Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at approximately 11 a.m., Echo360, the lecture capture platform in use at UMass Amherst, started experiencing issues. This service disruption affects the entire United States region and impacts access, playback, engagement, authentication, and reporting, but not capture.

Amazon Web Services Outage Causes Disruptions Across the Web - Tues., 12/7

Amazon Web Services or AWS, Amazon's cloud computing division, powers many sites and applications across the web. 

On Tuesday, December 7 around 11 a.m. EST, AWS experienced service issues including outages and slowness in the Eastern US. These issues may affect access to some university-supported services which are fully or partially powered by AWS. Currently, we are aware of interruptions to the Echo360 lecture capture service.
