RESOLVED: Issues Reported with Zoom Meetings & Webinars - Mon., 8/24

Zoom is now available, including UMass Amherst's Zoom web portal. Instructors can log in to the web portal to access scheduled Zoom meetings for their Moodle courses.

Zoom is investigating reports that users cannot visit the Zoom website (zoom.us) and are unable to start and join Zoom Meetings and Webinars. For the latest updates, see: https://status.zoom.us/

RESOLVED: Moodle Now Available - Mon., 8/24

Moodle is now available, following the login issues reported earlier. Students and instructors may experience some initial slowness as the system restarts. If you are having trouble logging in or experience other problems, please contact IT User Services at it@umass.edu or 413-545-9400.

Thank you for your patience as our teams worked to restore Moodle. We will continue to monitor IT services for any other issues that may arise.

Security Alert! New Phishing Scam Target UMass Amherst Community - Fri., 8/21

On August 21, 2020 a new fraudulent phishing message with the subject "I need a quick response" began targeting UMass Amherst email users.

The email appears to have been sent by "John McCarthy," and asks the recipient to "send me your available text number that I can reach you at."

On August 21, 2020 a new fraudulent phishing message with the subject "Task Request" began targeting UMass Amherst email users.

The email appears to have been sent by "Clair E. Hamilton," and asks the recipient "Do you have any free time now?"

Caution: This email is not a legitimate communication from the University of Massachusetts. It is a phishing scam designed to trick you into providing your NetID password to get access to your personal information and/or UMASS information technology services for fraudulent purposes.

RESOLVED: Issues Reported with Incoming Calls to Campus Telephones - Weds., 8/19

The issue has been resolved. Campus telephones are now receiving off-campus calls. 


UMass Amherst Information Technology (IT) is investigating reports that some campus telephones may not be receiving calls from off campus. Outside callers may have trouble reaching a campus number. 

Outgoing calls or calls between two campus phones are not affected. The vendor is aware of this issue and is working towards a resolution as soon as possible
