UMass Amherst subsidiary account owners now have until Tuesday, September 17, to switch their account's email service from UMail to UMass Amherst Google Mail. After September 17, all remaining subsidiary accounts with UMail will be switched to Google Mail automatically.
- If you have a subsidiary account(s) and wish to switch from UMail to Google Mail, use our step-by-step guide to switch your account(s) through SPIRE.
- If you prefer Microsoft Exchange, or your department uses Exchange instead of Google Mail, please contact your department's IT professional or technical group for assistance, or email email@example.com.
- If you are moving to Google Mail and begin the switchover, your existing email messages will be copied from UMail to Google Mail automatically (a process that may take up to 48 hours, depending on the size of your inbox). You will still have access to UMail but no new mail will be delivered there.
Note: You are not required to change your primary account's email service to match your subsidiary account(s). The email address of your subsidiary account will remain the same after switching email services.
