Sophos To Replace McAfee for Anti-Virus Protection at UMass Amherst

Starting this March, members of the campus community have a new anti-virus software available for their university-owned and personal computers. Under a new university-wide contract, Sophos Intercept X Advanced with EDR and Sophos Home will replace McAfee endpoint protection as the preferred anti-virus solution on campus.

iPhone Repairs Now Available Through the IT Repair Center

Members of the campus community can now bring their damaged iPhones to the IT Repair Center for affordable repairs. Our staff have recently added 10 iPhone models they can repair, increasing the list of supported devices to over 100.

Stop by A109 LGRC Lowrise, Monday through Friday, any time between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Security Alert! New Phishing Scam Targets UMass Amherst Community - Thursday, 3/21

On March 21, 2019, a new fraudulent phishing message with the subject “You have a message notification from your Department" began targeting UMass Amherst email users.

The email appears to have been sent by "Frederic Rose," notifies the recipient “You have a Faculty E-Learning message notification file from your Department”, and contains web links to "SIGN IN HERE." The links in the message direct the recipient to a fraudulent version of a UMass login page.

Microsoft Imagine is now Azure Dev Tools for Teaching

The Microsoft Imagine program, which offers eligible UMass Amherst STEM undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff a wide range of Microsoft products at no cost, is now called Azure Dev Tools for Teaching.

As well as continuing to offer all of the same no-cost products and tools, Azure Dev Tools for Teaching now includes access to training and learning materials from Microsoft Learn.
