Security Alert! New Phishing Scam Targets UMass Amherst Community - Thursday, 4/4

On April 4, 2019 a new fraudulent phishing message with the subject "Urgent." began targeting UMass Amherst email users.
The email appears to have been sent by "President Marty Meehan, J.D.," and asks the recipient "are you available? I need you to complete a task for me discreetly."

Caution: This email did not come from the University of Massachusetts. It is a phishing scam designed to trick you into providing your personal information or other things of value.

Microsoft Exchange “Free/Busy Schedule” Feature Now Available Across UMass System

Starting Tuesday, April 2, faculty and staff using Microsoft Exchange Email and Calendaring have access to the “free/busy” calendar feature for colleagues at all other UMass campuses.

"Free/busy” is a special calendar feature that shows your calendar availability as well as your colleagues’ availability ("Available," "Busy," "Tentative," or "Out of Office"), allowing you to schedule inter-campus meetings more efficiently. 

Sophos To Replace McAfee for Anti-Virus Protection at UMass Amherst

Starting this March, members of the campus community have a new anti-virus software available for their university-owned and personal computers. Under a new university-wide contract, Sophos Intercept X Advanced with EDR and Sophos Home will replace McAfee endpoint protection as the preferred anti-virus solution on campus.
