Planned Outage: No Wired Connectivity in Integrated Sciences Building on Weds., 8/12

August 12, 2020

On Wednesday, August 12, 2020, starting at 6 a.m., access to the Integrated Sciences Building’s (ISB) wired internet network will be down due to a planned outage.
 
Wireless connections will still be available during this time as crews work to upgrade the wired network, temporarily taking it offline. 
 
This work is expected to last throughout the day, with access to the wired network gradually returning over time, following network testing later in the afternoon. 
 

Security Alert! New Phishing Scams Target UMass Amherst Community - Mon., 8/3

On August 3, 2020 new fraudulent phishing messages with the subject "Quick request" began targeting UMass Amherst email users.

The emails claim to have been sent by either “Anne P. Massey” or "Anna Maria Siega-Riz" (but come from non-UMass addresses), and ask the recipient to either "Send me your available number ASAP" or "Send me your available number."

Caution: This email did not come from the University of Massachusetts. It is a phishing scam designed to trick you into providing your personal information or other things of value.

On July 31, 2020, new fraudulent phishing messages with the subject line either “Quick request” or "Work From Home" began targeting UMass Amherst email users.

The emails claim to have been sent by “John A. Hird" or "Nargis Aslami," and ask the recipient to “send me your available number" or to “email for more info."

Caution: This email did not come from the University of Massachusetts. It is a phishing scam designed to trick you into providing your personal information or other things of value.

On Tuesday, July 28, 2020,  several new fraudulent phishing messagesbegan targeting UMass Amherst email users.

One email with the subject line "Payroll error" appears to have been sent by “Carol Plummer,” and informs the recipient “I would like to know if you received my previous message concerning the error from the payroll department.”

Another, labeled "Task.." appears to have been sent by “Burnley Jaklevic,” and informs the recipient “I have a task you need to handle immediately.”
