UMass Amherst Information Technology (IT) is investigating multiple reports of issues accessing SPIRE, the student information system. Updates will be provided as soon as they become available. 

Security Alert! New Phishing Scam Targets UMass Amherst Community - Tuesday, 11/10

November 10, 2020

On November 10, 2020 a new fraudulent phishing message with the subject "Assignment 10th November" began targeting UMass Amherst email users.

The email appears to have been sent by "Samalid Hogan," and asks the recipient to "confirm your availability."

Caution: This email did not come from the University of Massachusetts. It is a phishing scam designed to trick you into providing your personal information or other things of value.

On November 10, 2020 a new fraudulent phishing began targeting UMass Amherst email users.

The email appears to have been sent by "Sonya Epstein," and asks the recipient to "carry out an essential task for me quickly as possible."

Caution: This email did not come from the University of Massachusetts. It is a phishing scam designed to trick you into providing your personal information or other things of value.

On November 3, 2020 a new fraudulent phishing message with the subject "Urgent request" began targeting UMass Amherst email users.

The email appears to have been sent by "Georgianna Parkin," and asks the recipient if they are "available."

Caution: This email did not come from the University of Massachusetts. It is a phishing scam designed to trick you into providing your personal information or other things of value.

Security Alert! New Phishing Scam Targets UMass Amherst Community - Monday, 11/2

November 2, 2020

On November 2, 2020, a new fraudulent phishing message with the subject “COVID-19 Alert System” began targeting UMass Amherst email users.

The email notifies the recipient “All Staff are required to Login COVID-19 Alert System to see their tasks and schedules” and provides a link to “COVID-19 Alert System”. The links in the message direct the recipient to a fraudulent version of a UMass Amherst login page.
