Moodle Scheduled Downtime – 8-9 AM, Th., 10/25

On Thursday, October 25, 2018, Moodle will be unavailable for approximately one hour, beginning at 8 am.

During this time, UMass Amherst Information Technology will be performing scheduled maintenance. All users are asked to plan accordingly.

Security Alert! New Phishing Scam Targets UMass Amherst Community - Wednesday, 10/17

October 17, 2018

On October 17, 2018, a new fraudulent phishing message with the subject "FW:[ATTENTION REQUIRED] University of Massachusetts Amherst Revised Business Development, Implementation, and Review of Guidelines and Goals" began targeting UMass Amherst email users. The email claims to have been sent by Chancellor Subbaswamy, notifies the recipient that "we are pleased to announce our updated Business Integrity Program" and contains an attached file. When the user clicks within the attached file, they are redirected to a fraudulent login and download page.

Security Alert! New Phishing Scam Targets UMass Amherst Community - Monday, 10/15

October 15, 2018

On October 15, 2018, a new fraudulent phishing message with the subject "Service ID: D203ZFVAHD7609" began targeting UMass Amherst email users. The email appears to have been sent by "Swanbon, Gloria," notifies the recipient that they are receiving a request to "respond to an survey regarding online course evaluations."

The link in the message directs the recipient to a fraudulent login page asking for email accounts and passwords.

Email Delivery Issues - Th., 10/11

UMass Amherst Information Technology (IT) is investigating reports of email delivery delays and other issues affecting campus email services following a recent phishing attack.

Outgoing messages from UMass Amherst email accounts may be temporarily delayed or rejected by external email providers.

Our postmasters are actively working with the Information Security Office and email vendors to resolve these issues. To report a problem, please contact IT User Services at 413-545-TECH (8324) or it@umass.edu.
