Isolated Network Issues Resolved, Tues., 11/13

UMass Amherst Information Technology (IT) has resolved an issue affecting access to SPIRE via the wireless network and causing brief network connectivity interruptions in specific areas of campus.

If you continue having difficulities accessing SPIRE via wireless networks on campus, please contact IT User Services at IT User Services at (413) 545-TECH (8324) or it@umass.edu.

Security Alert! New Phishing Scam Targets UMass Amherst Community - Thursday, 11/8

On November 8, 2018 a new fraudulent phishing message with the subject "UMASS IT" began targeting UMass Amherst email users.

The email appears to have been sent by "ESSUA Diretor," notifies the recipient "we are currently experiencing an error on our database," and contains web links to "Take a Look." The links in the message direct the recipient to a fraudulent version of a UMass Amherst login page.

UPDATE: Two-step Login (Duo Multi-Factor Authentication) Issues Now Resolved - Mon., 11/5

On October 25, 2018 a new fraudulent phishing message with the subject "You have a message notification from your Department" began targeting UMass Amherst email users.

The email appears to have been sent by "University of Massachusetts Amherst," notifies the recipient "You have a Faculty E-Learning message notification file from your Department. For security reasons, Your message has been encoded," and contains web links to "SIGN IN HERE." The links in the message direct the recipient to a fraudulent version of a UMass login page.

The scheduled Moodle maintenance has been delayed. Moodle will be available Thursday, October 25, 2018. Thank you for your patience.

On Thursday, October 25, 2018, Moodle will be unavailable for approximately one hour, beginning at 8 am.

During this time, UMass Amherst Information Technology will be performing scheduled maintenance. All users are asked to plan accordingly.
