Retirees from UMass Amherst may keep most IT services after they leave. You will receive an email from IT explaining how to extend your services.
If you are leaving UMass and not retiring, your IT account will be deactivated shortly after you leave. Please consider the following:
Back up Your Files
Make copies of any important personal files and photos you have stored using one of our services. These may include online storage (e.g. Google Drive and OneDrive), content on university-hosted websites and blogs, emails, and Google Calendar data.
Echo360
Download your Echo360 recording files. See Downloading Content From Your Library on the Echo360 support site.
Online Storage
Download a copy of personal photos, files, and work stored in your UMass Amherst online storage accounts, including Google Drive and OneDrive.
- Undergrad and graduate students can use Google Takeout to easily download their data.
- Faculty and staff can download files from Google Drive.
- Download files from OneDrive or SharePoint
WordPress and Websites
Export your WordPress site to your computer or other storage device. See WordPress Websites at UMass Amherst.
Migrate the contents of any of your UMass Create domains.
Email and Calendar
Save personal Exchange or Gmail emails.
Export any Google Calendar data you have created.

Special Extensions
Account services are automatically extended for members of the Armed Forces who were active students or employees at the time of their deployment. The extension is only valid for the duration of these individuals' active duty.
