Hannah's Ride

Hannah's Ride is a special bike ride and community event, organized by the Hannah Frilot Memorial Scholarship Fund to remember former UMass Amherst student and IT student worker, Hannah Frilot, and to help grow the scholarship set up in her memory.

The route is 17 miles long and begins and ends at UMass Amherst, traveling along University Drive, the Norwottuck Rail Trail, Route 47, and multiple backroads.

A shorter route along the Norwottuck Rail Trail and bikeway connect to UMass will also be available

Riders will head out beginning at 10:30 a.m. but community members of all ages are invited to come and enjoy the many other festivities organized for the event!

If you wish to take part in the bike ride, fill out our online form at

The non-refundable registration fee is $20, which can be submitted either by mail (see registration page for mailing information), in-person on the day of the event, or by making a tax-deductible $20 donation to the Hannah Frilot Memorial Fund through the official Hannah Frilot Memorial Scholarship Fund's MinuteFund page

We strongly encourage entrants submit their payments either by mail or via the MinuteFund page to help ensure an accurate head count ahead of the event.

We also encourage riders to gather pledges from friends and family to further support the ride. All proceeds go to the Hannah Frilot Memorial Scholarship Fund.

The ride portion of Hannah's Ride is just part of the day-long event! Festivities will include:

  • A special UMass Amherst Drumline mini-concert to rev up the riders at 10 a.m.
  • A "Bike Safety Rodeo" for all ages (courtesy of UMPD)
  • Liquid nitrogen-made ice cream and other demonstrations from the Physics Department at UMass Amherst
  • Demonstrations from the College of Engineering
  • A shirt tie-dye station
  • Kids craft table (courtesy of the Amherst Family Center)
  • Multiple raffles (see below)
  • And more!

Several raffles will also be taking place over the course of Hannah's Ride. Thanks to an overwhelming amount of generosity from local businesses and community members, attendees can purchase tickets to try and win prizes both big and small, as well as take part in a special art auction.

Here is a running list of some of the prizes that are up for grabs:

More information on raffles prizes and how to purchase tickets ahead of time will be available soon.

There will be many opportunities to volunteer and assist with Hannah's Ride and we invite any and all who can to take part!
