About the Scholarship
In memory of Hannah Frilot, this annual scholarship supports undergraduate women and nonbinary students in STEM majors. Each year a student whose life mirrors Frilot’s receives a $1,000 scholarship.
Frilot was a hard-working, passionate student and active member of her community. Her impact stretched across campus, from her time at UMass Amherst IT as a student worker to her role as treasurer for the UMass Amherst Pride Alliance, which was done while pursuing a degree in industrial engineering. Hannah’s optimism and enthusiasm were infectious because she made friends easily. She became an integral member of her IT crew, and also loved music, playing, and singing at many open mic sessions in the Amherst area.
Hannah was a fierce advocate for her fellow women and LGBTQIA students, taking part in the Pride Alliance and supporting the Stonewall Center on campus. In all walks of life, she worked to spread awareness of the various and intersecting forms of prejudice, discrimination, and privilege while promoting equality.
