UMass IT Enterprise Desktop Support is a fee-based support group that offers comprehensive end-to-end desktop solutions by providing technical support for university-owned equipment including desktop and mobile devices, applications, and servers that utilize the UMass IT Active Directory system. Our services include administration of desktop technology including infrastructure, security, and equipment management in compliance with UMass Amherst policies and procedures.
- Prepare computers and devices for use, ensure device security compliance, and manage delivery of data and applications to devices
Help facilitate the repair of broken equipment by working with the Repair Center
Prepare computer and device quotes for purchasing to ensure the correct operations within the university's enterprise structure and data security requirements
Data Migration for new, recycled, or reformatted computers
$70 per hour of on-site service which includes imaging, software installations, and pre-service diagnostics.
No charge phone support, pre-purchase consultations, and quotes.

Desktop support and departmental computer management is available from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday with exceptions when the university is closed due to holidays, administrative closings, or inclement weather.

Infrastructure applications (Active Directory, Exchange, etc.) that are needed for the management of systems have 24/7 on-call support.
