Move faculty, staff, graduate students, and retirees using UMail, UMass Amherst IT's aging email system, to Microsoft Exchange. Exceptions apply. More about Exchange Email & Calendaring
TBD (project currently on hold)
Over the past several years, a new generation of collaboration tools has replaced traditional email. To meet the increased demand and the expectations of the campus community, UMass Amherst Information Technologies (UMass Amherst IT) will be replacing UMail, our current email system, with Microsoft Exchange, an enterprise-class email and calendaring solution, for some faculty, staff, and graduate students. Check back for updates and more information in the coming months.
Phase 1: Upgrade Current Users from Microsoft Exchange 2007 to Microsoft Exchange 2010
Timeline: Summer 2013
A limited number of academic and administrative departments are already using Microsoft Exchange. During this phase, UMass Amherst IT will upgrade existing accounts from Microsoft Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010. More about Exchange 2010
Phase 2: Migrate Faculty, Staff & Graduate Student Using UMail to Exchange 2010
UMass Amherst IT will be assisting faculty, staff, and graduate students to migrate their email accounts from UMail to Exchange. More details about the migration will be available later on in Fall 2013.
Phase 3: Retire UMail
UMass Amherst IT will be retiring UMail once all members of the campus community have migrated to a new email platform.
