Google Applications and Extensions for Education

- MUST be used in the Chrome Browser (FREE download).
- Must be connected to a Google account (some of the apps and extensions, such as Read & Write are available at no additional cost with a valid UMass Amherst Net ID and password).
- Download the apps and extensions via the “waffle” icon (top left of an open Google Chrome browser). Then choose the “Web Store”.
Note: These educational apps and extensions do NOT work on the iPad or iOS devices in the Chrome browser. Some of the apps and extensions mentioned can be downloaded onto iOS devices through the iTunes App Store specifically.

Google Keep |

Bookshare Web Reader |
Free (with a Bookshare account). | Bookshare is the world’s largest online library of copyrighted content for people with qualified print disabilities. Installing this extension enables text-to-speech and word-level highlighting for the Bookshare Web Reader. |
Dragon Web |
Free (with Dragon 13 or later subscription). | With Dragon 13 or later, the Dragon Web Extension provides users the ability to click objects by name (e.g. say "Click Contact" for a link named Contact), dictate and edit notes (note: in Google Docs, you can work directly or indirectly), and more. |
