Using anti-virus software is the single most important thing you can do to protect computers and personal information against viruses and other malicious software.
UMass Amherst university-managed computers are now protected with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.
Information for Personally Owned Computers
- For personally-owned computers running windows, we recommend using the version of Microsoft Defender that is built into Windows (no further action is necessary).
- For personally owned computers running Mac OS or Linux, you may continue to use the Sophos Home for personal use, or choose from other free anti virus solutions.
