Wednesday, August 14, 2019 - 9:00am to 4:00pm
Thursday, August 15, 2019 - 9:00am to 4:00pm
E20 Machmer Hall | UMass Amherst

Over the course of two days this course will teach the skills needed to design, implement, and manage a survey project using the Qualtrics software.

On the first day we will complete a short tutorial of the software, and then cover the 18 question types (e.g. multiple choice, text entry, rank order, etc). On the second day we will review survey flow (e.g. skip logic), importing contact information, creating automated email communication, and survey distribution.

There will be notes and discussion about the strengths and weaknesses of particular approaches to creating and distributing your survey, as well as considerations such as assumptions about the devices and ways your respondents will interact with Qualtrics. Finally, we will cover how to use Qualtrics to run basic analyses on your data, generate reports, and export the data.

The workshop will include several exercises to give students hands on experience with the basics of online survey research via the reviewed Qualtrics functions.
