ISSR Methodology Workshop | Regression Analysis Using Stata

Tuesday, February 26, 2019 - 10:00am to 12:00pm
E20 Machmer Hall | UMass Amherst

Instructor: Rodrigo Dominguez Villegas

Which regression model should I use?

Through this workshop, participants will review a variety of regression methods. We will review the basic assumptions, interpretation of coefficients, and model fit statistics for OLS, binomial logistic, and multinomial logistic regression models.  The workshop will be most beneficial to those who have learned regression methods before and want to review the basics again. Working knowledge of Stata is required. Familiarity with OLS regression and knowledge of basic statistical concepts such as correlation coefficients and  the normal distribution is needed to take full advantage of this workshop.

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • Select appropriate regression models that best fit their data.

  • Interpret regression coefficients

  • Run basic diagnostics to test violations of assumptions

Please note that the course will use Stata for PC. A few commands and functionalities differ in Stata for Mac, but Mac users are also encouraged to attend the workshop.
