As federal research funding for basic research comes under increasing pressure and private foundations vow to step up their funding in the social sciences, scholars have grown more aware of and interested in opportunities to tap foundation grants to support their social science research programs. While the Graduate School at UMass offers grantsmanship workshops tailored to graduate student needs, this brown bag event aims to support faculty in making the most effective case possible, by tuning into the unique priorities and processes that govern foundation funding decisions.
Led by Megan Paik, ISSR's new Foundation Grants Development Specialist, this informal gathering will offer general and focused tips for faculty interested in gearing up their foundation grant-seeking efforts, and highlight three funders with upcoming deadlines: the Russell Sage Foundation, Spencer Foundation, and William T. Grant Foundation. Please bring your lunch, ideas, and questions, and join the exchange!
