  • October 25, 2019 - Project Management: Project management is an essential part of being a PI, yet few of us are trained in this crucial skill. This hands-on, interactive workshop will expose PIs to the basic principles of project management, and introduce faculty to modern project management toolkits.

  • November 15, 2019 - Personnel ManagementManaging personnel--including students, staff, and colleagues--can be a challenging part of the job for PIs. In this workshop, PIs will use case studies and self-discovery to hone effective personnel management skills.

  • February 14, 2020 - Effective CollaborationsScholarly work and research has become increasingly collaborative. Effective teamwork and collaboration is essential for projects to succeed. In this workshop, a panel of faculty will discuss various mechanisms for working in effective collaborative teams.

  • April 10, 2020 - Technical Tools for Collaborations: Research and scholarship collaborations can be enhanced through effective communication and setting expectations. This hands-on workshop will go through several administrative and technical tools that are useful for managing collaborations including memoranda of understanding, conflict resolution, and succession plans for research teams.

The "I'm a PI, Now What?" workshop series is co-sponsored by the Office of Faculty Development, Center for Research on Families (CRF), Institute for Social Science Research (ISSR), Office of Research and Engagement, College of Education, College of Natural Sciences, College of Engineering, College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, and the School of Public Health and Health Sciences.
