Hello prospective exchange students!

The University of Massachusetts, the Commonwealth’s flagship public research university, is one of the nation's top universities as measured by national and international rankings, academic citations, and research funding. UMass is the largest public research university in New England, distinguished by the excellence and breadth of our academic, research and community outreach programs.

UMass is located in picturesque Amherst, MA, approximately 1.5 hours from Boston and 3.5 hours from New York City. Known for its beautiful hiking areas, coffee shops, and buzzing downtown, the town of Amherst is rated among the best college towns in the U.S.

With a student population of over 23,000 undergraduate and 7,000 graduate students, including 4,000 internationals, UMass is home to students from around the U.S. and more than 115 countries! In addition, through our exchange program UMass welcomes between 100 and 200 international exchange students to our campus and community every year.
