The cost of study abroad varies widely. Prices are influenced by local economies, program type, location, duration, cost of living, excursions, and more. Direct-enroll and UMass exchange programs tend to be most affordable but nearly all programs cost more than an in-state semester at UMass Amherst. Despite this, students who choose a study abroad program that helps them meet their long-term educational and professional goals overwhelmingly report that study abroad is well worth the investment.
