Eligibility

Any UMass student can study abroad regardless of residency status. However, you must meet these following criteria:

  • Academic Standing: You must be in good standing academically and meet the GPA requirement for your chosen program.

  • Conduct Record: Your conduct history will be reviewed in coordination with the Dean of Student’s Office. If your past conduct record indicates that you have difficulty following rules or keeping yourself safe, you will be asked to meet with an Education Abroad staff member to discuss your plans for a positive experience abroad.

  • Class Standing Requirement:

    • First-year students are eligible after completing two UMass semesters.

    • Transfer students can go abroad as early as their second UMass semester.
