Dear Parents and Family Members,

On behalf of the Education Abroad Team I am thrilled to welcome you to the International Programs Office. In choosing to study abroad your student has embarked on an exciting and life-changing journey. Every year more than 1200 UMass students study in over 40 different countries,

Wherever they are in this process, a mixture of excitement and uncertainty is completely normal. We also know that this can raise a lot of questions and concerns. The Education Abroad team here in the International Programs Office works with students through all the phases of their journey, and we look forward to supporting your student as they prepare for their time abroad.

We have pulled together information and frequently asked questions that may help parents and family members as they work to support their students. Many of these resources are student-focused, which can give you insight to what is being shared with your student as they prepare to go abroad.
