Innovation Services at the Institute for Applied Life Sciences (IALS) supports visionaries in venture development, research translation, and industry engagement. Mentoring for startups and ventures encourages the campus-to-company pipeline. Through expert-led events, office hours, and collaborative spaces, IALS promotes community and partnership between UMass and our greater economic network.

Led by the Manning College of Information and Computer Sciences (CICS), Ventures @ CICS provides advice and support for new technology ventures emerging from CICS research labs and class projects. An Entrepreneur in Residence Program invites volunteers from the private sector to share their expertise in computer science, business development, and commercialization with the campus community.

The Riccio College of Engineering’s Entrepreneur in Residence Program is a network of alumni volunteers who provide mentoring and support to innovators in the UMass engineering community. Engineering entrepreneurs come from a wide range of backgrounds, contributing expertise in research translation, product development, marketing, distribution, startup strategy, and more.

Existing and prospective small businesses can take advantage of no-cost, confidential business advising, technical assistance, and training programs through the Massachusetts Small Business Development Center. The center’s focus on development, financing, and marketing helps Massachusetts businesses prepare to compete on a local, national, and global level.

The UMass Amherst Arts Extension Service (AES) helps artists and nonprofit professionals gain valuable education and credentials with an award-winning professional program in arts management. Advance your career through this affordable, experiential program, available online or on campus. AES also offers consulting services, research help, and other resources for networking and grant-seeking.

Grow your business and management skills by joining the ArtsHub of Western Massachusetts—a platform for discovering and promoting artists and events across the Connecticut River Valley. The ArtsHub is more than an event calendar or directory. You’ll gain access to funding opportunities, career-building resources, and gatherings that connect artists, patrons, tourists, and local businesses.
