Past Five College Working Groups

(2021-2022) “Race, Indigeneity, Settler Colonialism in Global Perspective”

The 2021-2022 Five College Working Group explored the topic of “Race, Indigeneity, and Settler Colonialism in Global Perspective.” The project organizers were Iyko Day, Elizabeth C. Small Associate Professor in the Department of English and Chair of Critical Social Thought at Mount Holyoke College, and Adam Dahl, Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

(2020-2021) "Race and Representations"

The 2020-2021 Five College Working Group explored the topic of “Race and Representations.” Project organizers were Stephen Clingman, Distinguished Professor in the Department of English, and Whitney Battle-Baptiste, Professor in the Department of Anthropology, both at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

(2019-2020) "Citizenship and Other States of Belonging"

The 2019-2020 Five College Working Group explored the topic of “Citizenship and Other States of Belonging.” The project organizers were Aviva Ben-Ur, Professor in the Department of Judaic and Near Eastern Studies, and Luis A. Marentes, Associate Professor in the Program in Spanish and Portuguese, both at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

(2018-2019) "1948: A Global History"

The 2018-2019 IHGMS Five College Working Group explored the topic of “1948: A Global History.” The project organizers are Alon Confino, Director of the IHGMS and Professor of History and of Judaic Studies; and Daniel Gordon, Professor of History, both at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
