Authentic Assessments ask learners to perform relevant, real-world tasks similar to those encountered in the workplace or in everyday life; result in the production of a high-quality product, the solution to a problem, or the justification of ideas; are learner-directed and allow some freedom to pursue individual or group interests; require learners to construct unique responses that incorporate personal experiences or critical, creative, and divergent thinking; have a variety of correct solutions; are iterative and include opportunities for formative feedback; evaluate learning over time.

AI has rapidly expanded its influence, offering personalized learning experiences, automated assessments, and enhanced feedback systems that can help both students and educators. However, the rise of AI-assisted learning also presents challenges related to academic integrity, fairness, and ethical implementation (Luckin et al., 2018). 

Online asynchronous courses present challenges to faculty and students. Online asynchronous communication with learners is often completely text-based, and can suffer from a lack of facial expression, tone of voice, and body language that convey care and attention. It’s difficult for you to get to know your online students, so feeling a part of the community is hard for everyone. Non-traditional students often have outside pressures and schedules and may not have as much time to cultivate relationships.
