Wei Cui offers VASCI Tech Talk Seminars

Wei Cui (M2M), director of the Animal Models Core Facility, participated in VASCI seminar series, Tech Talks, showcasing his facilities. Cui presented on "Genome Editing with CRISPR/Cas9" to all VASCI grad students.

He covered topics including:
•single guide RNA design
•single guide RNA synthesis
•Cas9 mRNA and protein
•zygote collection, microinjection, culture, embryo transfer
•genotyping and sequencing to select the founders
•mosaicism and the reason
•off-target and breeding strategy

In addition, Cui compared these to other methods including:
•Pronuclear microinjection-based transgenesis
•Chimera production via ES cells (gene targeting)
•Somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) cloning mediated transgenesis or
gene targeting
•Engineered nucleases ZFN and TALEN (genome editing)
