IALS Showcase-Where Art Meets Science

IALS will be hosting a showcase event in the Science and Engineering Library throughout the 2020 spring semester. The showcase will feature the UMass Core Facilities, IALS centers—Bioactive Delivery, Personalized Health Monitoring, and Models to Medicine—as well as IALS Innovation Services, core summer internship program and Building Bridges Collaborations. New items will be added throughout the semester.

Research Image Competition

Further, the showcase will incorporate a research image competition in which interested parties can submit images from labs affiliated with IALS for a chance to win core credits paired with UMass dining gift cards. Winner will be announced and awards will be distributed to the top three ‘most-liked’ research images on the IALS Instagram account at the closing reception on Wednesday, April 22, 2-4 p.m.

To learn more about the research image competition and to submit an image go to: umass.edu/ials/ials-showcase-research-image-competition

Collaboration with Worker Artists

A collaboration with Building Bridges Worker Artists will also take place. This will provide artists and core directors and researchers an opportunity to work together to create an art piece centered around a sub-theme of the science at hand. While this portion of the showcase is not a competition, the finished art projects will be displayed in the Science and Engineering Library. See how different scientific projects 'speak to' their creative practices.
