Sunghoon “Ivan” Lee, a Donna M. and Robert J. Manning Faculty Fellow and associate professor of computer science, electrical and computer engineering, and biomedical engineering, has been named editor-in-chief of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Conference (EMBC) Proceedings, the flagship publication of the world’s largest biomedical engineering conference.

In his new role, Lee will oversee the review and selection of nearly 3,000 research papers each year, maintaining rigorous standards while highlighting pioneering domains such as the role of artificial intelligence in biomedical engineering. He also plans to launch new “Best Paper” and “Best Reviewer” awards and broaden participation in the peer review process to include early-career researchers and doctoral students.
